|Dual Internet Connection Test to combine 2 internet connections into 1
I was brainstorming tonight about how to combine our 2 broadband cable internet connections into 1 using 2 cable modems. 1 connection is for the webserver, the other is for our Home Wi-Fi internet.
After reading alot of information it came to my attention that this would be pointless due to load balancing on the ISP's Servers.
So I ran some tests to find out what our speed would be while using 1 internet connection at a time, and also using both internet connections simultaneously. Below is the data from using Speedtest.net
Business Internet Connection Simultaneous test
Home Internet Connection Simultaneous Test
Business Connection Seperate Test
Home Connection Seperate Test
As you can see, the upload speed remains the same, While the download speed balances while testing simulataneously. the business connection's speed is almost half that of the seperate test. Just as I read the download speed will max out. So it appears the Home connection will use bandwidth from the Business connection on downloads. IDK.
Keeping in mind that the upload speed is crucial to the webserver, not so much the download speed.
So now I wonder if even having 2 connections is worth the extra money, the whole point is so the Webserver can opperate without our gaming and downloading interupting it.
